This study assessed the effects of culture on teaching of social studies in junior secondary schools which are involved in the study of social studies. Thirty social studies teachers and thirty social studies students were chosen at random for the purpose of this study and questionnaire was used to obtain information from the respondents. Data collected was analyzed through the use of simple percentages and frequency distribution tables.
In the course of the study, it was revealed that during the period of social studies, the students enjoyed learning about different cultures of others, in fact, it is interesting to them. Teachers received rapt attention of the students in the class when lessons are on. This is to say that students and teachers relate cordially, most especially during the lesson period.
